CONSOLES...
In 1997 E.M.C. was contracted to produce a variety of marine electronics and electrical systems for seven 47' Motor Life Boats, (MLB47) in production for the Canadian Coast Guard, to be manufactured in Kingston, Ontario.
After visiting the U.S. Coast Guard station in Boston, MA. and discussing the project with the crew of the prototype vessel there, it was decided that the construction system used on the U.S. vessels would not be suitable for the Canadian version, which had considerably more equipment.
An ergonomic design study was undertaken by E.M.C. which resulted in a user-friendly system for the vessel operators. Equally important, a 'service-oriented' approach to installation, service and potential removal of defective equipment was adopted.
